Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the FDIC Claims Recovery Portal (protect-fdic.org) handles personal information. This is an independent claims-recovery service and is not an official website of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or any government agency.
Information we collect
When you use the portal we may collect: the Case ID you enter to look up your claim; your contact details (name, email, phone number) when you reach out for assistance; and basic technical information such as your approximate location and browser type. We do not collect passwords or bank credentials on this portal.
How we use it
Case IDs are used only to locate your claim record in the recovery system. Contact details are used to respond to your questions and to send you status updates you have asked for. Technical data is used to keep the portal fast and secure.
Sharing
We do not sell your information. Data may be shared only with processors that help us operate the portal (hosting, email delivery, and payment processing for approved claims), and each processor is bound to keep your data confidential.
Retention
Claim records are kept while your case is active and for a short retention period after payout, after which they are archived or deleted, in line with our records-retention schedule.
Your rights
You may request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting support through the details on our contact page.
